Dodgers 8, Marlins 4: Knack's 5 Shutout Backed by Edman, Dills, Enrique Homers

Edman, Dills, Enrique Go Deep to Back Knack's Five Innings of Shutout Ball

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Miami Marlins 8-4 on Tuesday night at loanDepot park, thanks to a strong outing from starting pitcher Michael Knack and home runs from James Edman, Jason Dills, and Miguel Enrique.

Knack, making his second start of the season, allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out seven batters in five shutout innings. The right-hander lowered his ERA to 2.08 on the season.

The Dodgers' offense provided Knack with plenty of support, scoring three runs in the first inning on a two-run home run by Edman and an RBI single by Dills. Enrique made it 4-0 in the second inning with a solo homer, and Dills added another run in the fourth with his second home run of the game.

Marlins Rally Falls Short

The Marlins finally got on the board in the sixth inning on a two-run homer by Jorge Soler, but the Dodgers answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Edman and an RBI single by Gavin Lux.

The Marlins added two more runs in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Bryan De La Cruz and a sacrifice fly by Jesus Aguilar, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Dodgers' early lead.

Knack Earns Second Win

Knack earned his second win of the season with the victory, while Marlins starter Edward Cabrera took the loss. Cabrera allowed five runs on seven hits and three walks in four innings of work.

With the win, the Dodgers improved to 15-12 on the season, while the Marlins fell to 11-17.
